Awkwafina

Awkwafina was initially an American rapper and singer, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Prior to her move to Hollywood the singer was able to perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was via the trumpet. Also, she received Jazz and classical training before delving into hip-hop as a teenager. Concentrating on school she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. She didn't start focusing on music until after she graduated. After becoming famous on the Internet, her song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album also included songs that were viral such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. The last track was connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. Alongside being a published author as well, she also worked as a performer. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors to Storks. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released the EP In Fina We Trust.
